A1 Restricted Licence Course London
A1 – Restricted Licence Course, London Ride a light sized bike, 125cc.
What can you do with it?
The A1 licence for 17+ will allow you to ride a 125cc motorcycle/scooter (whichever you complete your test on), ride with no L plates, carry a pillion passenger on the back, and ride on the motorway.
At London Bike Training you can choose to test on either a manual motorbike or automatic scooter. If you decide to take your test on a manual motorcycle, you can now ride both manual motorcycles and automatic. If you choose to take your practical test on an automatic, you will be legally limited to automatic bikes only in the future.
What are the requirements to take it?
The A1 Restricted Access course at London Bike training, is designed for people aged 17 or above. It is for people wishing to get a full licence with a small sized motorcycle engine; you need to hold a full or provisional UK licence. For people with an EU Driving Licence a UK Counterpart must be obtained from the DVLA by completing a Form D9 online or from the post office.
YOU MUST HAVE BOTH PARTS OF YOUR LICENCE OR YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO TAKE THE TEST
You must also have completed the CBT course certificate (DL196) and passed your Motorcycle Theory Test. The course is broken down into two tests Module 1 and Module 2. You will need to pass the tests on a 125 cc bike. It doesn’t matter if your CBT Course was acquired with us or with another training school we can accommodate you.
You will also need to have taken a Theory Test more information can be found here.
Before anyone can take the A1 DAS course you will need to complete an assessment with us, more information can be found here on the assessment page.
Can I do more in the Future?
The A1 licence can be upgraded when you turn 19+ to the A2 intermediate licence (link). Then the next stage on route will be a full A licence at the age of 21. Then after two years with an A2 Licence you qualify to take into a full category A Licence.
So what does the A1 Restricted Licence course London involve?
Once you have passed your CBT course and passed a Motorcycle Theory test, you can then take your practical tests.
The A1 Light Licence practical tests are MOD1 and MOD2.
This is called the specified manoeuvres test. It is conducted on our off road site and involves elements you will have done before on your CBT. Throughout this test you are expected to use full and effective observations.
You will be required to:
- Wheeling the motorcycle around and use of the stand.
- Joint slalom into figure of eight.
